Vertical Records is home to Capercaillie, Karen Matheson and many more. Vertical approached Buchanan Drive in 2015 to refresh their existing online store which was functional, yet didn’t allow purchases and upsells of other albums. It was also not mobile responsive and was difficult to update.

The brief was for a new eCommerce store which would allow Vertical Records to sell their existing and new releases online. The site would have to be easy to update and would allow customers to purchase more than one item.

The Approach

Buchanan Drive designed a fresh look for the online store, using the existing catalogue of CD spines along the top of the website. The site itself is built on WordPress and WooCommerce and is hosted on our premium service. Each product page allows for up-sells and cross-sells which is a great way to increase your customers spend given that you are able to manually select similar artists or related products.

The Result

The online store was recently put to the test with the release of the new Karen Matheson album, ‘Urram’ and passed with flying colours! Vertical Records have a fully functional online store, which is easy to update and provides strong Search Engine Optimisation due to the high relevance and quantity of content. In addition to the eCommerce webstore, an https:// secure certificate was installed to ensure secure communications on the site and reassure potential customers.
